2 FO's in a row?!

What is the world coming to, when old Crafty Peach has two posts in a row with Finished Objects? I ask you. And while you're dwelling on it, have a look at my Big Papi scarf!

My model doesn't look too happy about it. But he certainly looks cozy.

I just love those diagonal stripes - this is exactly the way I wanted this scarf to turn out, and I am very happy about it! It's knit on the bias over 34 stitches on 4.5mm needles, with slightly more than 2 balls of Rowan Tapestry. This is the first time I've knit with Tapestry, and I really like it. I found it a little splitty, but not so much as to put me off the yarn; I always noticed right away when I had split a stitch, and fixed it before I moved on. It's so soft, and I'll bet it makes a nice cozy scarf - but it's difficult to judge such a thing on August 2. I'll let you know in November! (I think I have enough left over for a hat. Hmm...)

And now for something completely different.

Here's the sock yarn I dyed up on Tuesday. I am beside myself with joy over this yarn; I may have to retire from Kool-Aid dyeing forever, because this is perfect. This is exactly what I had in mind when I thought, "I am going to dye some sock yarn pink and green and call it 'Strawberry Fields'!" The yarn is Knitpicks Bare fingering weight, and the Kool-Aid is strawberry and lemon-lime. The dream is to save it for someday when I actually get to New York, and do some knitting on my Strawberry Fields socks in Strawberry Fields. And then I will just disappear in a little cloud of Lennony-knitterly happiness.

Today I plan to cast on Ryan's Dublin Bay socks (pdf link) with the Pansy yarn I rolled up last week. More bulletins as events warrant!

One of the things I love most about using Kool Aid to dye my yarn is just how fruity everything smells afterwards. :D Nice job on the dyeing! I can't quite get my dyed yarns to come out looking the way I see them in my head yet. I think I must just need more practice.
