I love when this happens

So I was at Meijer this morning, picking up a few groceries and things before we leave for our weekend trip (more on that in a moment). Meijer has a small-but-useful craft section, which I had to go through to get to the eye-care section for El Fuego's contact-lens stuff, and what did I see but a shelf full of clearance yarn. Well! You have to take a look just on general principles. Most of it was eyelash and novelty yarns, which I don't have need of right now, and I was about to move on when I saw some Moda Dea Sassy Stripes tucked in there. I pulled it out, and almost fainted: 49 cents.

49 cents!!!

I started digging casually through the pile of yarn - didn't want to attract the attention of anyone else who might be interested in 49-cent Sassy Stripes, la la la - and came away with this:

For less than $5. (And yes, it's all there was.) How marvelous! Sassy Stripes is a nice soft 100% acrylic self-striping yarn, good for slippers and baby clothes and hats and scarves and, I daresay, fingerless gloves. Who knows what it will turn into?

Oh, and I also bought the groceries and things.

We're taking a whirlwind trip to Virginia this weekend for a Fambly Event; details Monday. I'm still carefully considering what to take for my travel knitting...

I'll leave you with a mystery:

What might be in that soon-to-be-decorated giftie bag? Bwaaaa-ha-ha-haaaa.

Great find - well done! You haven't gone and finished the sheddy scarf have you?

Don't come crying to me when the Cactus Cozy doesn't work out and your angora wool creation is shredded beyond all recognition. :)

Boy I hope it's some Sassy Stripes! (Can I tell you now how much I miss Meijer stores in Wisconsin?)
