1. Wednesday morning I cast on an Anatolian Mitten, from my new Folk Mittens book which y'all might notice I'm sort of obsessing over lately. (That might be the most badly-constructed sentence in American history. But never mind.) It didn't take me long to realize, though, that I definitely wasn't going to have enough yarn for both mittens. Kind of a bummer, because it was looking really good, so I finished the cuff and set it aside to mull it over for a while, and last night I finally decided to frog it. I really like the pattern, so someday when I have enough appropriate yarn, I'll definitely be making the Anatolian Mittens.
2. After frogging the mitten, I consoled myself by reading Folk Mittens, and decided I probably do have enough yarn (the same yarn from the Anatolians) to make the Mittens from Halland. Coming soon! Watch this space!
3. Wednesday afternoon, after setting Anatolian aside to mull it over, I cast on for the hat Horatio asked for: another Urban Urchin, but longer than mine. I'm knitting this one on straight needles; the pattern calls for circs, and I did that with mine, but I didn't actually enjoy it, so Urban Urchin Redux is being knit on straights and seamed.
4. Now this one is just inexplicable, unless you want to chalk it up to my short attention span, which I would totally understand. Wednesday night, I cast on an Evangeline. I finished it yesterday morning - it knits up really quickly - and started the second one, but I've only knit the cuff so far and I might save the rest for tomorrow. I like to have something portable to knit at Miss Dashwood's guitar lesson, and Evangeline would be perfect.
5. I think I'm going to sign up for Thing-a-Day. Sign-ups start Monday, and I'm pretty sure I'll be there, since I fell asleep last night thinking of Things I Could Make In One Day. Apparently I'm looking forward to the challenge! (Of course, I was looking forward to the challenge of Writing a Whole Novel In November, too. *siiiiigh*) Nope! No bubble-bursting! I'm going to make something every day in February! Some days that thing might be "dinner," but I'd bet that counts.
So that's where I stand, craftwise, on the morning of January 18, 2008. On Monday I hope to have pictures of at least two finished objects. See you next time, same Bat Channel! (I've got to stop quoting the television. Supplies are limited! Call now!)
