"Heel" is a weird word

Immediately on the heels (ha ha!) of the Lombard Street Socks are these: Wendy's Healthy Spine Socks.

I ordered this pattern late last year, maybe November, and I guess I didn't really look closely at it until yesterday morning, because I was very surprised that it contains no cables! The pattern is so bumpy, I just assumed there were cables involved, but nope. Nary a one. I'm really enjoying knitting it, even if I am too much of a chicken to attempt Wendy's undoubtedly-brilliant toe-up gusset heel - I'm going to slap a regular short-row heel in there. (It never fails to amaze me how you can work the short-row toe and heel exactly the same way, and they'll both do their jobs properly.) Someday I'll try Wendy's toe-up gusset heel, though. I have three of her patterns from the Loopy Ewe, and they all have that heel, so one of these days I'll sally forth and try a new kind of heel.

Had to do a little hand-warshing yesterday...

...and I also frogged the Cold Shoulder capelet. I wasn't going to finish it, and even if I did, I wouldn't have worn it, and I don't think anyone I know would have, either. So I took apart as much of it as I could - the yarn kept breaking, and I ended up throwing a good portion of it away - I'm sure there's enough left for a nice wrap, though.

Speaking of nice wraps, I should totally finish Domovoi Shawl. And speaking of things I should totally finish, I ordered a little more of the yarn I need for the Mittens from Halland. It'd be nice if I could finish those in time for next winter!

I see what you mean about the bumpy pattern - very nice.
You've reminded me that I have a similar heap of handwashing in the bottom of our laundry basket too... ;-)
