And I finally got a good picture of Juno Regina in progress. There are 8 little charts involved in the knitting of this wrap, and I've gotten through repeat #3 of chart #2. There's one more repeat of chart #2, and then it's on to chart #3. Oh, and the yarn is KnitPicks Shadow in Jewels.
I'm enjoying the knitting so far, but I've found that I have to stop trying to figure out what the lace is doing. At first I kept counting stitches, counting yarnovers and decreases and trying to figure out how they were making this pattern happen, and I couldn't make any sense of it... finally I decided I'd better quit it, and just do what the charts told me to do. I don't have to understand it - Miriam knows what she's doing, and I just have to follow her directions.
I'm not a real big direction-follower in real life. I don't like being told what to do, to be honest. But sometimes you have to quit pretending you have any idea what you're doing and just follow the directions, and for me, this pattern is one of those times! And it's working. I keep having the proper number of stitches, which is, of course, good. Nothing worse than getting to the end of the row and discovering you're one stitch short, or have one too many, and then you have to figure out where the heck you went wrong, and then you think "gosh I'm tired, maybe I'll have a nap" and the next thing you know you've cast on five new things and developed amnesia. Not that any of this has ever happened to me personally. I'm just sayin, is all.
*ahem*
