I have a cunning plan.

We'll have to see whether it goes better than any of Baldrick's did, but it's a cunning plan nonetheless. Here's the outline.

1. Finish the Pi Shawl by Saturday, July 19. There's a part of me thinking that this is the most challenging bit of the whole plan - and maybe it is, but it's not really as bad as this part of me is thinking. This part of me tends to announce that it takes a day and a half to knit a single huge round and we're never going to finish it. This part of me needs to shut up. We are going to finish it, this week, and it is going to be lovely, and we may even have a recipient in mind for it, maybe. We are not sure. (We love how we suddenly went into the Royal We, there.)

2. Why July 19? Because that's the date of the Stitch n' Pitch game in Cincinnati, to which I have four tickets in my hot little hand. Woohoo! I'll be taking my Jaywalker sock to the ballgame, and once I pick up Jaywalker I intend to stick with it till it's finished, which is why I'd like to finish Pi before the ballgame.

3. Definitely finish the Moebius Scarf, applied i-cord edging included, before August 7. I'd also like to finish up either Juno Regina or Seascape before August 7, but honestly I'm not holding my breath on that.

4. The Summer Olympics start August 8 at 8pm Beijing time (that's 12 noon Universal Time) (and 8am Eastern Daylight Time) (fortunately it's August 8 in all three time zones, none of that brain-hurty wrangling with which day it is)*. This is also the beginning of Ravelympics, for which I have signed up. The idea is to choose a project that will be a challenge to complete in 17 days and spend the Olympic period knitting it: cast on for it during the Opening Ceremonies, and finish it before the flame goes out. I've chosen Dainty Bess (the green one) from the Elizabeth I scarf collection, and I've also chosen not to think too much about it before the night of August 7, so as not to develop sweaty palms or some kind of Olympic Phobia or something.

*Wow, three parenthetical asides in one sentence...I think that's a record even for me!
