Six or seven years ago I crocheted my old friend here, and there's no denying it: it's starting to fall apart. About two years ago, well before the strap began to fray, I bought another ball of the yarn (Aunt Lydia's Denim) in a natural tan sort of color; I was going to make another one just because I love this one so much. Never got around to it, though, and the yarn just lounged in the stash, until now. I need to make another one before this one falls right off my shoulder at the Target one day. (And even then, I'll probably duct-tape the strap back together and keep using it. But it won't hurt to have one in reserve, in case I decide to give my favorite purse a decent retirement. Get rid of it?! No way! It was the first 3-D project I ever crocheted! It's going to the Land of Well-Loved Retired Items, if I ever agree to retire it. Oh, right: I should bring this parenthetical aside to an overdue end and show you the new-purse-in-progress.)
I'm a little worried that when it's done, I'll resent it for not being my favorite purse, rather than love it for being exactly like my favorite purse. Or, you know, maybe I should be more worried that I've gone completely round the bend because I'm worrying that I'll resent my new purse. And, I'm worried about the baggage retrieval system they've got at Heathrow. And I'm worried about whether I should have stopped then...
In knitting news, my second Merletto Mitt is almost done. I should be able to show off a whole pair of fingerless mitts next time!

That's a great bag - I'm sure you'll end up loving this one just as much. :-)
