These two colors (Coral and Petunia) (those would be cute names for cats!) (sorry, I digress) were sitting right next to each other in my stash, and Miss D announced that they would make really pretty stripey socks, and I've been wanting to try Fred and George, so I started them up the other night. They're a lot of fun - I'm going to need a pair of these myself! (Hmm, I'm pretty sure I said that about S(p)ocks, back in January.)
My jogless join is...not precisely jogless. I have trouble making stripes in the round line up nicely, which Beth can attest to. Rosemary, who wrote the Fred and George pattern, gives perfectly clear instructions for a jogless join, and I've followed them exactly, honest I have. Miss D moves pretty quick, so chances are when she's wearing the socks, nobody will have time to notice the not-jogless-join. New rule about knitting mistakes: If it can't be seen on a running 8-year-old, it doesn't matter. Ta da!
And here are my purchases from Wool Gathering...I went for the earth tones this year! There are two hanks of hand-dyed worsted-weight wool, about 275 yards each; two ounces of undyed merino/mohair blend, purchased at the kids' special request because they want to dye it; and those beautiful orange bits are about 300 yards of silk. I think I have just the right lacy neckwarmer pattern for the silk, as soon as I am able to stop petting it.
And a big thank-you to my computer, for remaining calm and letting me write a whole post. *mmmwah!* I'm going to knit it a cosy.
