Hat Trick

Here's Connor Cap #1 - it's yet another Catawampus. Can you stand it? I should send the designer a nice box of cookies. Best hat pattern ever.

The grey and blue are reversed in the second one - and I'm almost to the zigzags on that one!

Longtime readers may recall that everything was a bit crazy last November. I was trying to write a novel and improve my guitar skills and knit Christmas gifts and keep up the housework all at the same time, plus I had a real hankering for stranded mittens which never really added up to anything, plus there was a case of head lice and a lot of Thanksgiving-oriented drama. Needless to say, I barely got past eleven thousand words and I still can't play "Penny Lane," but at least the Christmas gifts were finished in time and the head lice were vanquished (and have not made a return appearance, thank the Lord).

This November is like a whole nother world. Yes, I've lost control of the laundry - poor Horatio recently announced that he was out of clothes, and a quick inspection revealed that he was not exaggerating for effect; he really had no clothes in his dresser. Fortunately I had done some laundry and just not folded it, and was able to fetch him some clothes from the dryer. But! Mostly the place is in order, I'm nearly to 19,000 words, I've been taking a brisk walk almost every day, I'm still knitting, and dinner has been served at its usual time every night. (However, there was nearly a Kitchen Incident on Monday when I put some oil in a pan to heat up for a saute, and then started writing, and a few minutes later thought, "Hey, what's that smell?" Ha ha! Nothing like a grease fire to liven up November! There was no actual grease fire, but I think it was a near miss, and I have a new rule: No writing and cooking at the same time, dummy.)

It's all making me think I might have some kind of latent organizational skills. I always thought I didn't have time to write all my ideas down and form them into a novel, but here I am, writing, and still getting other stuff done too. I won't have a proper novel at the end of November - sorry, I've already bored y'all with this about five times - but I will have a scary, crappy draft to work with.

I wonder if I should be trying to write 1,700 or so words every day of my life...?

Whoa. I think I just blew my own mind.

Well done with the time management. I do believe that you are becoming addicted to knitting those hats...
