Hopeless (and also, Rambling)

That's me. I just keep casting on! I only cast on seven stitches, though, if that counts for anything.

...nah, didn't think so. Especially given the whole "increase 4 stitches on every right-side row" business.

Wait, let me go back to the beginning. So Katelynn's Blanket is moving right along, though I don't have an updated picture of it and don't really plan to take one till it's actually finished. And I started a sock for El Fuego, which is perfectly reasonable. There's always room for a sock-in-progress in one's life.

There it is - it's a Mr. Pitt's Sock, Knitpicks Essential in navy. Or, as El Fuego calls it, very very very very very very very dark blue. ("Never buy black socks from a normal shop, Dougal - they'll shaft you every time!")

But then, yesterday, I heard the laceweight calling me. No, not any of the laceweight that's already in progress; that might have been reasonable as well. This was brand new laceweight. Well, brand new if you ignore the fact that it's been in my stash for three years. This was un-cast-on laceweight.

I'm calling it the Wool Addict's Shawl, because dangit, I couldn't help myself - I just cast on those seven stitches and started knittin'. It's based on the Wool Peddler's Shawl in Folk Shawls, but I've made a few changes, including knitting it in stocking stitch instead of garter stitch, and using orange and purple wool instead of the traditional red. And I'm not going to do the lace bits - I'll just keep going in stocking stitch until I switch to garter stitch, which is whenever I decide it's a good idea. (I didn't claim to have thought this all the way through.) The wool is Knitpicks Shadow in Campfire (discontinued - why, o Knitpicks, why?!), and I have a ball of Shadow in Vineyard that I'm going to add on when I run out of Campfire.

Now if I can just not cast on anything else till I finish Katelynn's blanket, I think I can keep all this under control!
