The Week in Pictures

We had a great time in Virginia! None of these pictures were taken there, as our camera was refusing its batteries again (it's getting entirely too fussy), but fortunately my parents' camera was working just fine and they got some great pictures of the kids. It's always nice to get back home for a few days.

So I did a little yarn shopping while I was there. Lovely specialty sock yarns:

That's Opal's Harry Potter yarn, in the "Harry und Ron" colorway, and Schaeffer's Sock the Vote Anne, in the "Michelle" colorway. Miss Dashwood has announced that she wants some Michelle socks, and it's a good-sized hank of yarn - 560 yards - so we could each have a pair of socks out of it. But I'm thinking it may become a small shawl instead. It'll marinate in the stash for a while, and we'll see what happens!

I've done 4 or 5 pattern repeats on Diamond Dust. (Look! My first nupp stitches! I can now knit Estonian lace shawls with abandon.)

And last month, when I was claiming project monogamy? I lied. Sorry. There were Top Secret Birthday Projects in the works for a couple of important fin-de-juillet birthdays (Pinky! Stop now if you haven't opened your present yet!!), and here they are:

Washington Nationals socks for my mom. Happy birthday, Ma! I hope they bring the Nats some luck! (If that works, let me know...I'll get to work right away on some Reds socks.)

And Mockery Socks for Pinky. Happy birthday, Pinky! (That's Miss Dashwood modeling them. Cute, right? Ah, go on.)
