Weather Report

We got a little snow overnight.

It's a heavy, wet snow. Pretty to look at, a nightmare to shovel! The local authorities are recommending that people stay off the roads today, which is no surprise, as the roads haven't been plowed. (Well, our road hasn't. I certainly hope they're taking care of the main roads.)

Those tracks in the snow, though? That's where the newspaper delivery guy trudged through this morning, and the mail carrier has already been by as well, bless their hearts. Either the roads aren't as bad as the news reports would have us believe, or the paper guy and the mail carrier deserve big bonuses. And a mug of hot chocolate with some brandy in.

As for me, I believe I'll stay in and knit. I started a sock on Thursday!

The pattern is called Simply Ginny (yes! More socks named after a J. K. Rowling character! Coolbeans), and the yarn is KnitPicks Stroll in Pansy Multi. I belong to a group on Ravelry called "Old School Sock Knitters," and there's a knitalong for February with the theme of cables. Since February is a short (and busy) month, I chose a nice short sock, with a fat 10-stitch cable going right down the front. I'm about to turn the heel. And when I'm done with these, maybe I'll finish Ginny's brothers, Fred & George...
