There's a dilemma, though. I really did not expect those little leftover balls of Silky Wool to knit up so...long. It's already two feet long, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's approaching three feet by the time I finish up this striped section. Then there's a full skein of pink wool which will go in the middle - no stripes, just a whole whack of bright pink, and since it's a full skein I expect it to knit up another five feet or so of scarf. And then there are the little leftover bits that I set aside to knit the stripey other end, which will be roughly the same length as this stripey end, two to three feet.
I am now talking about a ten- or eleven-foot-long scarf.
When I first realized that, late last night, I was a little concerned. Eleven feet?! What am I, nuts? But this morning I find myself warming to the idea. I'm certainly enjoying the knitting enough to go on for that long. And I would totally wear an eleven-foot-long scarf. It has a real Tom Baker flair to it. (Wasn't I just talking about Tom Baker's scarf? Am I receiving signals straight from the Doctor? That would be pretty cool. Hope I'm clever enough to work out what he's trying to tell me...well, I have another nine feet or so of nice meditative knitting to figure it out!)
