Happy Fourth, all! We're having sloppy joes and tater tots and cherry pie for dinner, and still deciding whether we'll brave the ungodly heat for fireworks.
Meanwhile, here's a lovely pair of alpaca gloves to admire.
Finished just minutes ago, and I still haven't woven in the ends, as you can see. But they are really comfy and beautiful. The yarn is Drops Alpaca, fingering weight, color #7233/olive. The pattern is My Mother's Gloves from the Jan/Feb 2012 issue of Piecework magazine. The needles were my trusty 2.75mm double-points. I started the gloves in January, and then dropped them like a hot rock when I got to the thumb gusset of the first glove, which I really cannot explain. Picked it back up about ten days ago, and now I have a nice new pair of gloves.
Now I shall put them away, because it's about 98 degrees outside. Oh no, wait - I'll weave in the ends first. Otherwise, I'll be mad when I pull them out next fall because it's cold and I want to wear them, and discover that I never wove in the ends. Haha!

Lovely gloves - I think we may need them here in the UK atm!
