Happy Worldwide Knit in Public Day!

I did knit in public, just a little, at the library this afternoon. The kids actually wanted to return and check out books, which is good, and I'm proud of both their dedication to reading and their restraint. I took my knitting to the library to stop me checking anything else out; I've got seven books checked out already, and do I really think I'm going to read seven books in three weeks? Especially with my annual mad summertime knitting plan already going awry? Best if I just sit and knit while waiting for the kids to get their books. So I did.

As promised, I now present my plan for the summer. It goes thusly:

1. Knit one laceweight scarf per month this summer.
2. Finish the Drizzly Day Socks and the Valentine's Anklets by the end of June.
3. And then knit a pair of socks in July, and a pair in August.

Part One is meant to help me work down this pile of lovely laceweight scarf patterns that has been sitting neatly on or near my desk (it moves around) for the last four months or so. I'm not assigning particular scarves to each month; I'm just going to see which pattern calls to me on the first of whatever. On the first of June, it was Rivulet.

I didn't actually cast this on till something like June 6, so this is not 12 days' worth of work, I promise. It's not even 6 days' worth of work, because I've mostly been plowing through the first Valentine's Anklet, which leads me to...

Part Two is meant to get my current sock projects finished up before I cast on any new ones. It just seemed like a good idea. Here's the Drizzly Day/Valentine's situation as it currently stands.

Not looking good. Only 18 days left, and out of four socks, I've only finished one. I shouldn't even be typing this; I should be knitting.

Part Three is just for fun, really. I like socks, let's knit some socks. Also, there's a little sock yarn lying around the house, such as this.

Knitpicks Felici. The colorway is called "Time Traveler." The stripes remind me of Tom Baker's scarf. I had to have it. This yarn, which I'm already thinking of as my Doctor Who yarn, will be my July sock project, and at least part of it will be knit in England, because that's where we'll be at the beginning of July! I'm so excited about going to England, and not a little geeked about the prospect of knitting Doctor Who socks while we're there. Even if June's part of The Plan falls apart, which it is clearly in danger of doing, July's is going to be great.
