Return to Scenic Ohio

We're back! Grace is glad to see us, though she did scold us soundly when we walked in the door. There were two perfectly ripe tomatoes in the garden, as well as three monstrous zucchini and four fairly normal ones. (It's dangerous for a vegetable gardener to go on vacation.)

Here's something I would have shown you on the Fourth, if I'd had my camera cord:

Ah, the York River. Isn't she lovely!

On the way home yesterday, I tried to take a picture of the Mighty Ohio as we crossed it (I like rivers), but I had been dozing gently through the last few miles of West Virginia, and only woke up a minute or two before we crossed the river. I may still have been a little sleepy when I grabbed the camera, pushed the power button, took a good long close-up look at my left index finger, then pushed the power button again. "Damn," I said, and the kids had a good laugh at Mom half-consciously pushing random camera buttons. And then swearing.

There was some mention of yarn shopping in my last post. Behold!

The Great International Stash Enhancement of Ought Seven. Counterclockwise: there's Opal sock yarn (Germany), Lane Cervinia sock yarn (Italy), Lollipop (New Zealand), Lamb's Pride (USA), Troitsk Yarn (Russia), Colonial Fiber Arts Hemp/Wool (USA again), and Louet Riverstone (from Louet North America, product of Peru).

Today will be dedicated to laundry and grocery shopping, and tonight I shall sit down and watch Jean and Lionel and really get this Jaywalker going. I'm almost at the heel. (Now stop rolling your eyes - eventually I will finish this sock and stop talking about it!)

I love Jean and Lionel. They are soooo cute. Unfortunately the kids are never quiet when they're on. I'd love to see all the episodes from the beginning.
