Hotel California

I might...possibly...have a little fingerless-glove problem.

Mind you, these are only the ones I've made for myself. El Fuego has two pair, and each of the kids has a pair, and Pinky, and my brother and his fiancee...I kind of enjoy knitting fingerless gloves. Mittens are fun too, but they might come out too short, or long and floppy, and neither of those are any fun to wear. Fingerless gloves always fit, because your fingers are supposed to stick out the ends! And your hands and wrists stay warm, but your fingers are still available for writing, or typing, or knitting. Or whatever. Also, they look cool. They are both the perfect project and the perfect accessory. (When it's not August.)

In case you hadn't guessed, I whipped out a pair this weekend.

I started Friday night ("Doctor Who" strikes again...hmm, the Doctor could use a pair of fingerless gloves), and finished up this morning. I used the leftover bits of Rowan Tapestry from my Big Papi Scarf, which I had originally planned to use for a hat, but who am I kidding. Fingerless gloves. I am just a prisoner here, of my own device!

These gloves were inspired by a pattern called "Dori's a Genius" from the Yarn Girls' "Knits for All Seasons," but I made some changes: I wanted 1) ribbing to ensure a proper fit, and 2) an actual thumb. The ruffle was cute, though, so I left that in.

Now, a couple of balls of Knitpicks Telemark are beckoning to me from the stash. "Fair Isle fingerless gloves would be soooo preeeeeettyyyy," they are whispering.

Yikes.

Darling! They are so pretty, I love the ruffle. And I can't help but notice my own name missing from your list of recipients - did you notice that?
