Fortunately, the cross-stitching is not bothering my wrist:
And neither is the baking of cinnamony ornaments:

Cheryl posted this recipe recently, and I resolved to try it as soon as I could free up my oven for 12 hours or so. I actually baked two of each of these designs, but the first four had already gone up on the tree by the time it occurred to me to take a picture. I love the fish - he is too cute!
And now, a festive Top Five: my Top Five Christmas Songs!
1. "Happy Christmas (War is Over)" by John Lennon, a song full of hope for the season and the new year and all mankind. Love you, John!
2. "The Kid" by Clint Black. Sung from the point of view of a five-year-old boy who is just so damn excited about Christmas he can't even sleep, and he keeps getting up to check on the cookies and see if Santa's been here yet and how's he going to get in? Ain't got a chimney! (And I don't know where he's gonna put that pony.)
3. "Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives. Alan Jackson deserves credit for doing a terrific version of this song, too, but give me that old singing snowman any day!
4. "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole. No one else is permitted to sing this song. No, really, I'm passing it into law right here in this post. Nat King Cole owns this song, Nat singing this song is absolute Christmas perfection, so let's leave it at that.
5. "Winter Wonderland" by Harry Connick Jr. I never thought "Winter Wonderland" could rock, till I heard Harry play it. Just for clarification - I don't know whether he ever did another version - this is the instrumental version from the soundtrack to When Harry Met Sally.
In case I'm not back before Tuesday - a distinct possibility - Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to one and all!
