Dear World

May we present: President Barack Obama.

Wait a second, I like that so much I'm going to say it again:

President Obama.

Congratulations, President Obama, and good job, fellow Americans! My hope for the immediate future is that all the nasty bickering that's been going on the last few months will stop. We're all Americans, and we all love our country; let's believe that about each other and pull together. We really do work best when we work together.

***

Thus endeth the political/philosophical portion of today's post. How about a hat?

This is the Catawampus Cap that C's husband J (I'm going to drive us all crazy with the initials) is getting for Christmas. If you have access to this pattern, I recommend you drop everything else and knit it immediately. Once you get the hang of knitting into the stitch two rows below, it's a lot of fun! This one is Wool-Ease in loden and black; I've started one in loden and grey for their son.

Speaking of hats, my friend Beth at Chocolate Sheep is collecting hats for her son's school; one of her son's classmates has just been diagnosed with cancer, and the kids immediately started talking about shaving their heads to show support for him when he starts chemo. If you'd like to knit a cap for Connor and his friends, click here for the details, and thank you. Prayers, positive energy, and good wishes in all forms for Connor are also being accepted!

NaNoWriMo is going swimmingly well, thanks for asking! (Heh.) I'm over 7,200 words, which is pretty good for four days' writing. I haven't written anything today, so I think I'll go get cracking on that. And then a bit more hat-knittin'...once I hit the zigzag pattern I won't be able to put it down, so writing first!

Patterns like that can be addictive - maybe they should come with a health warning!
Good job with the writing - isn't it like being back at school?!
