In which I confess

I cast on something new. I know, I know - I said I wasn't going to cast on anything else for the rest of the year. My pants are on fire. Does it redeem me at all if this thing that I cast on is a Christmas gift? For next Christmas? (Yes, that's true. I am starting on next year's Christmas knitting before this year's Christmas has even arrived. Whatever it takes to avoid all the unfinished lace projects laying around the house, apparently.)

I'm feeling sort of at loose ends, probably because I haven't finished my Christmas shopping and there actually are a lot of loose ends to be tied up in the next two and a half weeks oh my God is Christmas really that close?! So I'm not getting a lot done craftwise, except for this 2009 Gift I'm knitting, and I'm not at liberty to talk about that yet. But I will be doing a lot of baking soon, and gift-wrapping, and maybe some soap-making. And some school-program-attending, and some driving-around-looking-at-Christmas-lights...I really do enjoy this time of year. It's a peaceful, happy, downright cold time of year, and watching the snow fall is one of my favorite forms of entertainment. I would just sit here with a cup of tea and watch the snow come down all day long, if only there weren't all this laundry to do.

And I will probably spend some time petting all my yarn, but not casting on, because this one Futuregift is seriously it until next year.
