Pumpkin and Granny Smith would be good names for cats.

Well, I finally quit practicing the cast-on and actually cast on the Endpaper Mitts.

I love it. That's KnitPicks Essential (my go-to sock yarn for all occasions) in Granny Smith and Pumpkin. I started that on Saturday, and then, because I must have eighteen projects on the go at all times, on Sunday I started this...

That's a S(p)ock, in the color Inca Gold. I'll bet I don't have to tell you what the yarn is. Go on, guess. Really. Okay, it's KnitPicks Essential Tweed. S(p)ock loves to travel; it went with me to a school awards ceremony, and the Department of Motor Vehicles (there's an escapade that went much better than expected - a trip to the DMV usually ends with my head exploding, but my recent driver's-license renewal was smooth sailing! A miracle), and sometimes I even pick it up and work on it around the house.

But my main project at the moment is this lovely, addictive piece:

This is the shawl I'm calling Laurel Highlands, after a beautiful part of Western Pennsylvania - I haven't been there in years, I guess I was feeling a bit nostalgic when I named the shawl. The pattern is really called Blue Jeans Leaf Lace Shawl, and you can find it here. I'm knitting it as a gift for someone that I'm pretty sure doesn't read this fine publication, but I'm not taking any chances, so you'll get nothing out of me yet! I love the pattern - it's fun to knit, it's easily memorized, and I'm always entertained by yarn that changes color by its ownself.
