But over the holiday weekend, the thought of having a big pile of wool and silk sitting in my lap was more than I could bear, so I did a couple of other things. One was to finish up this baby hat that I started ages ago...
...with yarn left over from this project. The hat had been sitting around, less than half-finished, on a bookshelf in the sitting room for, I don't know, six months? And on Sunday it just looked like a nice, cool, small project to work on. So I finished it up. It's darling, if I may say so, and now it's headed for the small collection of baby knits I've built up.
And then, Sunday night, I went to The Stash and pulled out the two skeins of Corntastic I bought a couple of years ago. I wound them both into balls and cast on four stitches and started knitting a Baktus.
I love it. I love this yarn, I love this pattern, I love them together. In real life, the color is a bit richer than this (this is the least bad of the seven pictures I took), and I love that, too. The pattern suggests knitting the yarnovers through the back, so as to close up the holes, but I really like the way it looks with the open yarnovers along the edge.
