Sharpen your pencils...

...and make sure your laptop battery is fully charged and your Mr. Coffee is plugged in - it's time to write a novel in 30 days!

Almost! Can't start till Saturday. But I this year, I've got the Writing-a-Novel Shrug. Here's the extreme closeup, taken during the blocking process:

And here's the artsy hanging-over-my-writing-chair shot.

I love it. It's exactly what I envisioned when I started knitting it, and even though I like surprises, it's nice when something turns out the way it should.

Writing-a-Novel Shrug is based on Pam Allen's lovely Reading-in-Bed Shrug, knit over 65 stitches on 5.5mm needles. I used three balls of Valley Yarns Deerfield, 50% alpaca/50% silk/100% I must find more of this stuff. I can't recommend this yarn highly enough: it's soft and squishy and warm, and a joy to knit with. A scarf knit in this yarn would be heavenly. A shawl would be delightful. A shrug is very nice indeed.

Y'all may recall my grand announcement at the end of September regarding my 2008 NaNoWriMo entry; please be advised that the convention has been moved to Minneapolis. Other than that, you'll get nothing out of me...the other novelists have spies everywhere... *shifty eyes*
