(Yep, that's Miss Dashwood's sock, which she should have picked up. That is also her coat, which she should have picked up. My parents are probably not surprised by any of this; apples don't fall far from trees in this house.)
...and Fred likes El Fuego's chair.
I did, however, have to knit this lovely neck warmer from a ball of Himalaya Yarns' "Recycled Silk." I haven't woven in the ends yet, and it's going to need a big button, but I'm calling it done.
I loved knitting with this yarn - it goes all thick-and-thin, it's never going to give you a nice even fabric but that's part of its charm, and no two balls are ever going to be exactly the same anyway because it's made from bits of leftover silk, and the color changes are amazing. I'm knitting, la la la simple and slightly addictive lace pattern, and suddenly whammo I'm confronted with the most gorgeous shade of purple I've ever seen. Or a deep emerald green. Or turquoise, my God, the turquoise. A ball of this stuff is an adventure in knitting. There's not a smidgen left - I used the entire ball.
And here are Dragon Scales Scarf and Moss Stitch Scarf.
Dragon Scales is fun, but I have to wait until Hazel is asleep before I can work on it; she loves that little ball of silk. (She has excellent taste.) And I sure do love me some moss stitch... how can moss stitch be so much fun, while ribbing is something I just have to take a deep breath and slog through? They're both knit 1, purl 1 for all eternity till you're finished. How can I possibly like one so much better than the other? I don't get it. It just is.
Next time: a plan! And also, I'll fess up as to whether my NaNoWriMo characters ended up singing "American Pie" or reciting epic poetry.
