This is the Northcountry Toque, but I've given mine a different name, which I'll explain in a minute. It was knit on 5.5mm needles with Lion Brand Wool-Ease Chunky. It's squishy and comfy and I love it.
As for the name - I knit this for the Gallifreyan Time Travel Challenge over on Ravelry. The challenge was to knit something inspired by your favorite Doctor. My favorite Doctor is Nine, and in his very first episode, Rose asked him, "If you're an alien, why do you sound like you're from the north?"
His perfectly-sensible, slightly-grumpy answer, and the name of this hat: "Lots of planets have a north!"
